First Step: Energy Healing

When I was a child, I would tell my mother that I could see air. She waved it off and said it was all in my mind. Over the years, and every so often, I'd stop and notice that I could still see it if I paid attention. Normally, I just ignored it. Now I realize what I was seeing was the energy around things. I easily see the first layer of energy surrounding people and things like tables and couches, etc. Sometimes, I can even see auras. As I work with energy more and practice with meditation, I'm finding it becomes easier to see auras. I'm still learning what the different colors really mean. I do know the colors of the chakras and so look for those around the appropriate areas. But there is much more to it, as energy is always moving, unless of course it's stuck. A chapter for a future blog.

In early 2017, when I was taking ballroom dance lessons, I noticed my left arm becoming painful when held up on my dance partners shoulder. As a few months went by, I found that the longer I held it up, the more painful it became. Then one night, as I slept, I turned onto my left side and a pain shot through my shoulder that not only woke me out of a sound sleep, but put me in tears. I thought my upper arm was broken. Early the next morning, I went to the nearby emergency care, where they took an x-ray of the arm and shoulder. The good news; the arm was not broken. The bad news; I had something called frozen shoulder. It meant that I couldn't lift my arm in several directions without terrible pain. And, the pain emanated down into my upper arm, sometimes beyond that.

When asked, the doctor indicated, and I don't exactly believe it, that it happens to many people as they get older. I have since heard of young adults who have suffered with it too. He also suggested it may be a result of an earlier physical trauma. I had suspected that it was somehow related to a fall I took the previous year that found me spread-eagled on the very hard granite flooring at the Dulles Airport. I wrenched that shoulder, my elbow was swollen and very sore, and had several other scrapes and bruises. Not to ruin our one-week vacation, I put some ice on my elbow and took some anti-inflammatory pills, then walked around sight-seeing Washington for a week. After arriving home, I could barely put weight on my left leg, and learned that I'd actually fractured my pelvis. Fortunately, it healed up in the normal six-week period, and I was good to go, or so I thought.

The doctor prescribed physical therapy for my shoulder. The therapy did give me a small amount of range of motion back, but the pain was still there. As recommended, there was lots of icing the shoulder and moist heat when I had time. I discovered several other people who'd had frozen shoulder too. Some had said it took them three years to get better, some said five years. One person I spoke to was constantly in pain. I decided that no-way did I want to spend even another year without the use of that arm, much less three to five years in pain.

Innately, I felt that the protocols given to heal it, weren't helping. A friend who has been a therapeutic yoga teacher also suggested I should treat it more gently. At the same time that I began doing more gentle movements with it, I received an email from a Vlogger I follow and he had a program on Energy Healing. His guests, Donna Eden and David Feinstein, are an amazing couple. I won't go into Donna's long story, but she is a world-renowned energy healer, and discussed certain techniques anyone could do to heal themselves and retain positive energy. Also giving daily energy exercises that will keep your body in a healthy state. I ordered her large medical book which delves into the human body as pertains to the movement of energy in the Meridians, the Chakras and the Auras. I also ordered one that had quick energy demonstrations. I've since seen many of her workshops and always learn something new.

Right around the same time, I discovered another healer by the name of Jerry Wills, who also offered courses on seeing and moving energy. As I began to practice energy healing in relation to my shoulder, I saw a tremendous improvement. In all honesty, it's still not 100%, but I'd say it's 99% better. My range of motion is completely back, Every once in a while, I feel a little twinge of tightening. When that happens, I send that part of my body some energy, some love, and imagine it relaxed and completely thawed. That will usually do the trick.

In some of the next blogs, I will tell you how the Energy Healing led me to renew my love of crystals and gemstones, and how I eventually got the nerve to join a psychic practice circle. I hope you'll stay with me.
